Parking Lot Safety
Dear Emily Carr Families,
We know it takes a village to support all our students. We are requesting your support to help maintain the safety of all our students during arrival and pickup times in our parking lot. With input from Halton District School Board personnel, School Council, the Town of Oakville Traffic and Engineering department, our School Community Liaison Police Officer, and our own daily observations from Emily Carr staff, we have developed a comprehensive plan with a focus on student safety. We are asking for your support of the following expectations to support student safety.
Parking Lot Expectations
Families need to support the following for Student Safety:
-Students are to be picked up and dropped off at the curb in the loop only
-Drivers are not to leave their cars in the loop to walk students to the kindergarten yard or back black top
-Families that need to park must park in designated parking spots
-Students walking from a parked car must hold the hands of an adult if they walk through the parking lot
-Families must walk to the closest sidewalk/path to ensure they are not walking long distances through the parking lot with their children
Also, we have asked for the Town of Oakville transportation department to visit regularly and help support student safety with by-law enforcement.
Families, please know that the loop at the front doors of the school is an emergency vehicle route and not meant for student drop off. Cars parked and left unattended at any time of day will be ticketed if by-law enforcement is in the area (even for a few seconds/minutes).
Please see the attached map for additional information and helpful do’s and don’ts.
Thank you for your support!
